Mary Elizabeth Bennett Gainous



Services for Mary Elizabeth Bennett Gainous, 84, of Grady County, Ga., are at 3 p.m., Sunday, October 25, 2009, at Springhill United Methodist Church, Whigham, Ga. The Rev. Garth Duke-Barton will officiate.ÊInterment follows in Springhill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Phillip Shiver, Stephen Gainous, Jason Lynn, Mark Gainous, Keith Griffin, Phillip Womack, John Bailey, Scott Gainous and Lucas Baggett. Mrs. Gainous died Thursday, Oct. 22, at Grady General Hospital. Born Oct. 12, 1925 in Decatur County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late John Henry Bennett and Katie Godwin Bennett.ÊShe was retired from the W. B. Roddenbery Company and was a member of Springhill United Methodist Church. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and June Gainous of Climax, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Travis Baggett of Cairo, Ga.; grandchildren, Phillip Shiver of Baconton, Ga., Stephen Gainous of Climax, Ga., Jeri Gainous Lynn of Cairo, Ga., Mark Gainous of Milledgeville, Ga., Dori Griffin of Whigham, Ga., Katie Womack of Quitman, Ga., Brooke Bailey of Cairo, Ga., Scott Gainous of Cairo, Ga., Lucas Baggett of Cairo, Ga.; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gainous was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Wilson Gainous in 1992; her son, Jerry Gainous in 1999; and her parents, John Henry and Katie Godwin Bennett.
