Services for Daisy Lee Wooden, 85, of 259 Waldrop Ave., Whigham, are 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Cedar Spring A.M.E. Church in Whigham. Rev. Timothy White and Bishop James Wooden will officiate and interment is in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers are Brian Sanders, Jimmy Sanders Jr., Eric Wooten, Tony Willis, Gary Dawson and Kelvin Wooten. Honorary pallbearers are Cecil Harrell, Terry Maxwell, Sammy Garland, Clennon Harrell and Raymond Harrell. Mrs. Wooden was born Sept. 14, 1924, in Dixie, to parents John and Georgia Mae Brown. She married Ira Wooden Sr., who preceded her in death, and was a housewife. Mrs. Wooden was a member of Cedar Spring A.M.E. Church. She attended Brooks County Training School in Quitman. Mrs. Wooden died Oct. 8, 2009, after an extended illness at Grady General Hospital in Cairo. Survivors include sons, Eddie Wooden of Philadelphia, Pa., Ira (Luella) Wooden Jr. of Whigham, Gary (Carolyn) Wooden of Whigham, Jerry (Ann) Wooden of Miami, Fla., Lewis (Linda) Wooden of Huntsville, Ala., and James (Darlene) Wooden of Cairo; daughters, Claudia Morris of Riveria, Calif., Hazel (Jimmy) Sanders of Bainbridge and Marie (Thomas) Durden of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Ezekiel Brown of Whigham; sister, Onabelle Vinson of Bronx, N.Y.; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. — Cloud and Son Funeral Home
