James Anthony Higdon

Services for James Anthony Higdon are at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009, at St. Thomas AME Church. Church pastor the Rev. Clement Choice will officiate and interment is in Peaceful Rest Cemetery. Mr. Higdon died June 12 at Atlanta Medical Center. Born Sept. 15, 1961, he was a son of Dorothy Crawford and the grandson of the late Bishop and Evelyn Higdon. He worked at Plaid Plastics for 18 years in Atlanta and was attending various churches in Atlanta. Survivors include his parents, Amos and Dorothy Crawford; daughter, Marquita Cooper of Gainesville, Fla.; a brother, Jeffery (Ardella) Crawford of Thomasville; special aunts and uncle, Ernest and Cynthia Higdon; a devoted and caring fiancee, Monica Williams of Atlanta; grandchildren, Kamaria and MayKale Newton of Gainesville, Fla.; aunts, Mary Ann (Ben) Crawford of Thomasville, Corrine Curry of Thomasville; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Special thanks to Monica Williams, Margie Hye, Robbie Farmer, St. Thomas Church family, Atlanta Medical Center staff and Hadley’s Funeral Home staff. He was preceded in death by Juanita Walden; uncles, Bishop Jr., Willie James, Johnny Higdon and Robert Higdon of Thomasville. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 1 p.m., at 118 Festus St., Thomasville for the procession. — Hadley’s Funeral Home
