Kathryn Hudson Miller

Services for Kathryn Hudson Miller, 89, are at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home. The Rev. David E. Hudson and the Rev. Gene Cochran will officiate and interment follows in Springhill Methodist Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Bob Burt Jr., Tim Mills, Greg Miller, Jeff Miller, Franklin Harrell and Jack Roberts. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Miller died Thursday, Oct. 9, at Pinewood Nursing Center. Mrs. Miller was born in Grady County on Aug. 23, 1919, to John G. Hudson Sr., and Estelle Pravette Hudson. She married Ralph Norton Miller, who survives, on June 5, 1938. They have been married 69 years and raised five children. Prior to obtaining her LPN nursing degree at Thomas Tech in Thomasville, she was employed with Warner Brothers in Thomasville. On Jan. 1, 1970, she was employed as a charge nurse for nine years. Mrs. Miller was appointed on staff as social worker with Heritage Inn Nursing Home which is now Pinewood Nursing Center in Whigham. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 122 of Cairo, GA for 31 years. She served as second district president and president and held other offices in her unit. Until her illness, she was actively involved in The First United Methodist Church in Cairo and many other organizations, including the Wayside Community Club and the UMW at Springhill Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Ralph Norton Miller; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Cheryl Miller of Meigs; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Willard Collins of Cairo, Doris and Willard Mills of Gainesville, Judy Lee of Montevallo, Ala., Jane and Bobby Burt Sr. of Lynn Haven, Fla.; grandchildren, Cheryl Snyder of Troy, Ala., Elaine Donahoo of Gainesville, James Mills, Jr. of Gainesville, Jaye Booth of Covington, Cindy Pruett of Buford, Tim Mills of Oakwood, Phillip Lee of Troy, Ala., Jeff Miller of Flowery Branch, Joanie Chembras of Dahlonega, Barbie Kay LaBine of Flowery Branch, Bob Burt Jr. of Lynn Haven, Fla., Gregory Miller of Flowery Branch, Jennifer Adams of Lynn Haven, Fla.; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, John G. Hudson Jr. of Stone Mountain, David E. Hudson of Portal; sisters, Martha H. Stevens of Lake Mary, Fla., Betty Ann H. Clark of Greenville, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., today at the funeral home. — Clark Funeral Home
