Rev. J. Scott Harvell



Services for Rev. J. Scott Harvell, 35, of Fitzgerald, are 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at the Church of God Camp Ground in Tifton. Rev. David Blair, Rev. Ray Garner, Rev. Tommy Powell and Rev. Bobby Moore will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. The service will be Web cast live at www.sgacog.org. Rev. Harvell went home to be with his Lord on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at St. Joseph/Candler Hospital in Savannah. He was born March 20, 1974, in Thomasville, to Bobby and Lynnette Harvell of Fitzgerald. A 1993 graduate of Fitzgerald High School, he also graduated from Zoe University in Jacksonville, Fla., and Covenant Christian Theological Seminary. He was an ordained bishop in the Church of God and served on the state Youth and Christian Education Board. For the past two years, he served as the senior pastor of Harvest Renewal Worship Center in Nichols. He also served in ministry positions at Fitzgerald Church of God, Statenville Church of God and Abundant Life Fellowship in Brunswick. Rev. Harvell is survived by his wife, Laura R. Harvell of Douglas; daughter, Anslie B. Harvell of Douglas; parents, Bobby and Lynnette Harvell of Fitzgerald; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lisa and Shannon Dorough of Fitzgerald, and Brandy and Chip Rutherford of Gray; grandmother, Mary Ellen Harvell of Thomasville; and, several nieces and nephews. The family will received friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Church of God Camp Ground in Tifton.
