William “Delmar” Smith, 97, passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, in Tallahassee, Fla. He is survived by his wife of eight years, Dorothy Sanders Smith. Delmar was born and raised in Ochlocknee, Ga., and graduated from Barber School in Jacksonville, Fla. He then settled in Tallahassee, where he was a barber for 77 years. He had most recently been attending Capital City Christian Church Other survivors include two children, Tish O’Brien (Bob), of Tallahassee; Pat Smith (Nancy), of Tallahassee; one stepdaughter, Paula Odom (Perry), of Tallahassee; one brother, Bill Smith, of Tallahassee; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Clifford L. Smith, in 2002. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Bevis Funeral Home (www.bevisfh.com or 850/385.2193). The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday evening, also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Tallahassee Memory Gardens.
