Lorraine P. “Lokie” Thomas

THOMASVILLE —

Memorial services will be held for Lorraine Pitts “Lokie” Thomas, 83, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 14, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Henry Bass and Rev. Rick Turner will officiate.  Ms. Thomas was born on June 21, 1928, in Chauncey, GA, to the late John and Georgia McNeil Pitts.  Ms. Thomas passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at her home after an extended illness. She was of the Methodist faith. She retired from Southern Insurance Company in 2009, after working there since her return to Cairo in 1996. She had three children of her own but was like a mother to so many more. Lokie had many interests, among them, sharing her love of cooking with others, her card games, and puzzles with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and could often be seen coming and going from the Roddenbery Memorial Library. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and always put the interests of others before herself. Her heart was closed to no one. The character of this beautiful lady will always be remembered by her family and many friends. She gave so much to so many and all she asked upon her leaving was she not be mourned but, her life be celebrated just as she did every day. Ms. Thomas is survived by: her daughter, Shayne Thomas McCullough and her husband Robert of Destin, FL, Chuck Thomas and his wife Chloe of Cairo, GA, and Mickey Thomas and his wife Rachel of Palm Desert, CA; grandchildren, Kit Thomas of Cairo, GA, Chase Thomas of Valdosta, GA, Dustin Thomas of Cairo, GA, Jordan McCullough Hecht (Matt) of Savannah, GA, Caid McCullough of Destin, FL, Taylor Thomas of West Hollywood, CA, Austin Kary of San Marcos, CA, Alena and Alex Harlingten of Palm Desert, CA; sister, Jackie McKee of Powder Springs, GA, sister-in-law, Zena Thomas Brown of Cairo, GA; nieces, Michelle Brown Rackley and Sheila Brown Bradley of Cairo, GA; and the father of her children, Joe Thomas of Cairo, GA.
