Gerald Keith Pressley

THOMASVILLE —

Gerald Keith Pressley, 85, of 2038 South Roberts St., Pavo, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 7, 2012 at Pavo Baptist Church with the Rev. Chet Coker and the Rev. Tim VanLandingham officiating.  Interment, with military honors, will follow in Pavo Lebanon Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Gaey Lesnick, Gary Feagin, Dan Lewis, Kelly Walker, Jason Hurst and Patrick Holmes.     Honorary casketbearers will be members of the Men’s Sunday School Class of Pavo Baptist Church.  The Patriot Guard Riders will serve as an honorary escort. Born May 7, 1926 in Honea Path, S.C., he was the son of the late John Berry Pressley and Anne Lucille Monroe Pressley.  He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a retired Industrial Refrigeration Field Superintendent with the Filbert Corporation in Altamonte Springs, Fla.  Following his retirement, he was a contractor with N.A.S.A in Cape Canaveral, Fla. for seventeen years. He was a member of Pavo Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School.  He was a former member of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Association and Gideon’s International.  He and his wife served as missionaries, traveling to several countries. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Lydia Wood Pressley of Pavo; two sons, Gerald K. “Gerry” Pressley, Jr. and wife Sharon of Claremont, Fla. and John Kenneth Pressley and wife Nancy of Oak Hill, Fla.; a foster daughter, Rev. Joy Reyes and husband Jun of the Phillipines; one sister, Martha Page and husband Dwight of Fountain Inn, S.C.; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at Pavo Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Love A Child, Inc., P.O. Gloria Chastain White

Services for Gloria Chastain White of Thomasville are at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tom Jacobs will officiate and interment is in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jimmy Moore, Blake Chastain, Madison White, Jeff Yeomans, Curt Cooper, Jamie Sumner and Greg Perry. Mrs. White died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Archbold Medical Center. Born Jan. 24, 1949, in Thomasville, Ga., she is the daughter of the late Jack T. Chastain Sr. and Barbara Purcell Chastain. She was a Health Service Technician with Georgia Southwestern State Hospital. She was a member  of First Baptist Church Thomasville and former spouse Terry Louis White preceded her in death. She loved taking care of people and her dogs. She volunteered at Archbold Medical Center and was a caretaker for many years in people's homes. Survivors include son, Charles Terry White of Thomasville; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Thomas White (Shawna) of Orange Park, FL; brother, Jack Thomas Chastain Jr. of Whigham; sisters, Diane Chastain Moore of Cairo, Karen Chastain White of Tallahassee, Fla.; brother, Richard Glenn Chastain of Thomasville; friend and companion, Danny Daniels  of Thomasville; grandchildren: Emma Kathleen White, and Madison Caleb White and numerous nieces and nephews: Amy Prevost, Mandy Chastain, Kimberly Nester, Curtis Cooper, Jamie Sumner, Ali Brookerd, Blake Chastain. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Corey Sumner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association of Thomasville or Thomasville-Thomas County Humane Society.
