This month holds some significant dates:
On March 10, Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. “Spring forward” by setting your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed on Saturday night.
March 17 is “Hummingbird Homecoming” in our part of the country. Be sure to welcome these delightful creatures back with sparkling-clean feeders. To keep feeders fresh, clean them at least weekly.
Spring officially begins on March 20 at 7:02 a.m. EDT with the arrival of the Vernal Equinox. As the sun crosses the celestial equator on this day, the tilt of Earth relative to the Sun is zero, pointing neither toward nor away from the Sun, causing day and night to be equal in length. The same phenomenon occurs during the Autumnal Equinox in September.
Since 1993, International World Water Day is held on March 22 every year to focus attention on the importance of fresh water resources and management.
See Sunday's edition for more details.
