THOMASVILLE —
The Thomasville Scholars Academy dance elective classes will present the efforts of their daily practice and instruction at two distinctive performances Tuesday in the MacIntyre Park Middle School Auditorium.
Scholars Academy middle school students will be treated to a 12:45 p.m .performance to observe the talents of their fellow classmates in the fine arts/physical education classes.
Parents, friends, high school students and anyone in the community is welcome to attend the 6:30 p.m. performance in the MacIntyre Park auditorium.
The 33 students, featuring all grade-levels and levels of expertise, will present eight pieces in a mixture of different styles of dancing: jazz, ballet, tap, contemporary and hip-hop.
“One of the things I am very proud about is that there were so many students at the beginning of the year that didn’t have much experience or skill in dancing, but when you watch this performance the crowd won’t even be able to tell,” said dance teacher Allison Bundrick.
Students not only dance in these pieces, but they also took a hand in the choreography. Hays Hankinson, a high school dancer choreographed a contemporary piece called “Breathe Me.” Aubrey Brinkley, Sophie Sampson and Katie Wise, three middle school dance students, helped choreograph a lyrical piece called “Dancing with the Angels.”
The “End of Time” piece will be performed by the high school group of dancers: Ali Hall, Rachel Willis, Maria Dunbar, Hannah Beshears, Razah Hill, Sydney Clanton and Hays Hankinson.
“People will get ‘into’ this performance more than a typical ballet performance because we are using songs that are more known to people,” said Willis.
