Two Friday afternoon chases — less than four hours apart — resulted in a wrecked stolen car, two arrests and confiscation of drugs and money.
A Thomas County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted a traffic stop on the north bypass. The vehicle would not stop and traveled behind a house on Kelly Street.
When the vehicle came to a fence, the driver got out and fled to another residence, where he encountered a barbed-wire fence.
“The deputy found a small bag of marijuana,” said Kevin Lee, Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division commander.
Narcotics agents heard the incident unfolding over a police radio and went to the scene. The officers looked over the barbed-wire fence and saw a plastic bag containing marijuana.
“We also found a set of digital scales on the ground,” Lee said.
At the Thomas County Jail, loose marijuana was found in clothing of the suspect, Alfonso Jamorris Walden, along with more than $300 in cash.
More than 40 grams of marijuana were found during the incident.
