Election called to fill Meigs seat

THOMASVILLE — An election has been called to fill a Meigs City Council seat vacated when a council member resigned.

The special election will take place in conjunction with the general/nonpartisan primary on July 31.

The vacancy resulted when Orville Creager, council member at-large, resigned.

Qualifying for the council seat will begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, and end at noon on Friday, May 25. Qualifying will take place at Meigs City Hall, 1006 Depot St., between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The qualifying fee for Meigs council member at-large is $5 and must be paid at the time a candidate qualifies.

Those not registered to vote and who desire to vote in the special election may register to vote through the close of business on July 2 at the office of the Board of Elections and Registration, 325 N. Madison St. in Thomasville.
