SWGTC offering Getting into Business and Staying There

THOMASVILLE — Southwest Georgia Technical College’s (SWGTC) Office of Economic Development is offering a course for future entrepreneurs called Getting into Business and Staying There. This four-week course will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, from September 18th – October 11th. This class will provide information that will help future business owners understand all the risks and benefits involved in starting your own business.

“Starting a business and staying in business can be much more difficult than many people realize. However, our instructor for this class, Al Bryan, provides information that will help any entrepreneur meet the challenges of a new business and increase the possibility of their success. He will review business plans and financial requirements and hit on topics such as marketing for your business. We believe this class will be very beneficial to any inspiring entrepreneur that takes it,” Gary Pitts, vice president of Economic Development.

Discussion topics for this class will include: detailed fiscal and marketing analyses, implementation and operations planning, launching the business, monitoring the operations, and refining the business. Each participant will leave this course with the information necessary to make the choice as to whether entrepreneurship is for them and how to successfully navigate through the process.

The Getting into Business classes will be held Tuesday, Thursday, Sept. 25, Sept. 27, Oct. 2, Oct. 4, Oct. 9 and Oct. 11 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The cost is $100.

Southwest Georgia Technical College’s Economic Development department offers a variety of continuing education courses that include computer training, health and safety training, professional development, customized training, and personal enrichment. A wide range of short courses, workshops, and seminars are also available for professional development.
