It's time to get Victorian Christmas costumes

THOMASVILLE — As Thomasville’s annual Victorian Christmas festival draws near, the community is invited to rent beautiful Victorian costumes to wear at the event. Beginning Monday and continuing through Dec. 2, costumes will be available for rental from the Main Street office. The costume closet hours will be 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. throughout that week.

Offered in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors and styles, men and women’s costumes may be rented for a $10 rental fee and a $20 rental deposit. The deposit is refundable if the costume is returned by Jan. 13, 2012, with dry-cleaning tags and receipt.  All renters must agree to stroll the designated festival area on both nights of Victorian Christmas (Dec. 8 -9) from 6 until 10 p.m.

“Costumed strollers make Victorian Christmas a unique festival,” said Karen Smith, director of Downtown Thomasville Main Street and Tourism. “Visitors love to have their photos taken with the costumed strollers, and it really makes for an authentic evening.”

With more than 100 costumes to choose from, everyone is sure to find something grand to wear as Thomasville steps back into time.  Be sure to rent one early because they won’t last long!

For more information on renting costumes contact the Main Street Office at (229) 227-7020, or stop by the office located on the corner of East Jackson and Crawford Streets at 144 East Jackson St. inside the Municipal Auditorium Building.
