THOMASVILLE —
A dinner presentation event scheduled for Monday and Tuesday at a Thomasville restaurant are not affiliated with the City of Thomasville.
Neither are notices being mailed in the area with a sample lower utility bill, a City of Thomasville spokesman said.
The mailing, with an invitation to dinner Monday and tonight, says hundreds to thousands of dollars can be saved on electricity, water and natural gas.
“We do recommend citizens use their judgment in regards to programs or equipment that are expected to impact their utility bill,” the spokesman said. “We would be happy to discuss options with citizens to help them determine whether or not specific programs are beneficial, based on their prior usage of utilities, including water, gas, and electricity.”
While the program being presented this week by an outside agency might provide good information, City of Thomasville Utilities also is a valuable resource to work with to discuss measures to help lower utility costs, according to the spokesman.
Thomasville Utilities communicates with customers through direct-mail communications that are clearly marked with the City of Thomasville or Thomasville Utilities logo, by press releases or by content placed on Thomasville.org or Rose.Net.
“This presentation was brought to our attention by several customers who received the information by mail and were under the impression it was an event that was being sponsored by the City of Thomasville Utilities,” the spokesman explained. “We want citizens to know this is not presented by the City of Thomasville or Thomasville Utilities and to be assured that anything they receive from us will be clearly marked so there is no confusion.”
