THOMASVILLE —
The owner of a Carroll Hill service station was traveling by the closed business New Year’s night when his vehicle’s headlights illuminated someone in a car.
“The owner’s headlights hit a vehicle parked at the business for repairs, and the owner saw someone in the vehicle,” said Lt. Eric Hampton, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.
The owner stopped, and the man jumped from the car and fled.
Responding police officers patrolling the area saw someone fitting the suspect’s description and returned the person to the service station.
“He was identified by the owner as the person he had seen,”’ Hampton said.
The suspect, Albert Battle, 26, 1708 N. Martin Luther King Drive, is charged with entering auto. Battle was released from the Thomas County Jail on a $2,100 bond.
