THOMASVILLE —
The Thomasville Entertainment Foundation presents The American Chambers Players in concert at 8 p.m. on March 1 at the Thomasville Center for the Arts.
One of today’s most exciting and innovative chamber ensembles, The American Chamber Players consistently win enthusiastic praise both for their extraordinary artistry and their fascinating programs of music for various combinations of instruments.
“We are looking forward to a thrilling performance by these splendid, world-class musicians,” said TEF President Ken Rebman. “To hear a group of this caliber in a small, live setting is an opportunity not to be missed!”
The ensemble’s Thomasville program will feature two Classical-era works — a quartet for flute and strings by Mozart and a quartet for piano and strings by Beethoven; Poulenc’s brilliant sonata for flute and piano, composed in 1957; and a sumptuous, late-Romantic Era quartet for piano and strings by Lekeu, who described the work as “a poem of the heart.”
The American Chamber Players include flutist Sara Stern, violinist Joanna Maurer, violist Miles Hoffman, cellist Stephen Balderston and pianist Amy I-Lin Cheng.
