Veterans parade set

First celebration parade scheduled for downtown in November

THOMASVILLE — Participants are being sought for the first Veterans Celebration Parade on Saturday, Nov. 6.

The parade will line up at the intersection of North Broad and East Washington streets, the parade’s starting point, and proceed along Broad Street, turn left onto Remington Avenue and follow Crawford Street back to East Washington.

Anyone interested in participating in the parade should call Granvil Jones, event executive director, at (229) 227-3242 or (229) 859-2413.

“We are asking for the public to attend and support our veterans, as well as the men and women currently serving our country,” Jones said. “This is a great way to say thanks and show our appreciation for their sacrifices.”

Jones asks that those attending the parade wear red, white and blue and carry American flags or red, white and blue balloons.

Jones encourages school clubs, organizations, community clubs, church groups, businesses, motorcycle clubs, antiques and vintage car groups, dance and gymnastic groups and individuals to participate.
