Southwest Georgia Technical College (SWGTC) will be offering an “Introduction to the iPad” course on Thursday, June 14, 2012. This class will provide information on how to utilize the various available applications, accessories and options of the Apple iPad. The iPad is a line of tablet computers designed and marketed by Apple, Inc., primarily as a platform for audio-visual media including books, periodicals, movies, music, games, apps and web content.
“If you are considering the purchase of an iPad or have just bought one but are not comfortable with the new technology, this class is designed to help you “get started.” Information on how to utilize the various available applications, accessories and options, and the iPad virtual onscreen keyboard in lieu of a physical keyboard will be provided. Our goal will be to teach you how to effectively get the most out of
this new technology as soon as possible,” Gary Pitts, Vice President of Economic Development and instructor for this course.
According to Businessweek.com, Apple’s iPad is redefining the future of not just mobile media, but also computing devices in general. It has brought in a more enjoyable, intuitive and personal dimension of computing, and gives the users the power to use it as a complete mobile computing device. In just four months after the iPad’s launch in April 2010, the iPad achieved $1 billion in sales, making it the fastest consumer device to achieve that amount in such a short time.
This class will be offered from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on June 14th and the cost will be $25.00. For more information on the class or to register, please contact Ruby Barron at (229) 227-2579.
