THOMASVILLE —
The Thomasville Music & Drama Troupe is putting out a last call for student performers wishing to join the group of singing entertainers for its 40th performance season.
Seeking a diverse membership with students of all talent, training and experience levels, Troupe officials said the group is made up of seventh through twelfth graders from all area schools, and, last year, Troupe members represented both public and private schools from five southwest Georgia counties.
Troupe President Carolyn Betters said auditions for new members will continue for a few more days, with Sunday, September 23rd, set as the membership deadline.
“We have a great year planned, and we are building a committed group of dedicated members for a fun and enriching season that will include our 35th annual Christmas Show and our 40th annual Spring Show,” Betters said. Although the group offers a limited mid-year recruitment, Betters emphasized that January auditions will be for new members only, not former members wishing to return.
“Troupe is designed as a year-long program, and our goal is to build a team that works and learns together throughout the school year – and showcases the results of its hard work to the community during our Christmas and Spring shows,” she explained.
Raymond Hughes, recently named Troupe artistic director, said auditions – which are scheduled by appointment only – should not be intimidating to students considering membership.
