THOMASVILLE —
Thomasville youths with an interest in law enforcement have an opportunity to participate in a program designed to provide an in-depth look at what it takes to be a police officer.
Thomasville Police Department will host its annual Junior Law Enforcement Academy for area youths, ages 10 to 15. The program begins Monday to continue through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. daily.
Police Lt. Eric Hampton said academy participants will experience various components of law enforcement, from patrol to working in the crime lab, and even being part of the bomb squad.
“We want to give our young participants the most diverse experience we can,” said Hampton. “The goal is to excite the next generation about how we serve our community and perhaps inspire them to pursue a future career in law enforcement.”
