THOMASVILLE —
Thomas County was well represented in the 33rd Annual Bicycle Race Across Georgia (BRAG), which traveled across the mountatins in the northern part of the state.
Seven local riders joined 950 other biking enthusiasts from 32 states in the challenging event.
The 375-mile journey started on June 3 in Fort Oglethorpe — with overnight stays in Dalton, Jasper, Roswell, Winder, Cornelia and Mount Airy. It ended in Clayton (Tiger) on June 9. At times, the route climbed for three miles. One 20-mile stretch from Cornelia to Clayton rose from 1,000 feet in elevation to 3,200 feet.
The Thomas County group featured several BRAG veterans, including Dr. Bill Larden (27 years), Dr. Jim Story (19 consecutive years), Robin Bullard (nine years), Carson Chastain (five years), Jerry Reagan (five years), Vicki Reagan (two years) and Cullen El-Laoune (two years). Lardin, Story, Jerry Reagan, Vickie Reagan and El-Laoune received medals.
