Archbold Auxiliary Seeks Scholarship Applicants

THOMASVILLE — The Auxiliary at John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital is seeking applicants for scholarships given annually to deserving students enrolled in a medical-related field of study.

Two different scholarship opportunities are available this year.

The statewide Elizabeth Wilmot Bull Memorial Scholarship requires applicants pursuing a health-related degree at an accredited college, university or health-related technical school in Georgia, be at least a sophomore in college and have a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Each applicant must also provide an official transcript from the school they attend, two letters of reference and a personal narrative related to their occupational choice and goals. Applications are due February 1, 2012.

The Archbold Auxiliary will also be accepting applications for its own Auxiliary Scholarship, which is given annually to area students seeking a career in healthcare. Scholarships are funded through Archbold Snack Shop and Gift Shop sales as well as from memorials received by the Auxiliary in memory of a former Auxiliary member or friend. Those receiving scholarships in 2011 are asked to reapply to be considered for 2012. New applicants and current recipients of the scholarship may pick up an application at the Information Desk and return the competed applications by Feb. 27.

“We encourage all students who are in a medical-related field to apply for these scholarships,” said Archbold Auxiliarian Marlene Patterson, chairman of the scholarship committee. “All new applicants will be interviewed by the Archbold Auxiliary Scholarship Committee and the committee will recommend students to be considered for the scholarships.”
