Flowers honors Frederick

THOMASVILLE — Flowers Baking Co. of Thomasville, a subsidiary of Flowers Foods (NYSE:FLO), has selected employee Willie Frederick recipient of its 2011 Flowers Spirit Award.

The Flowers Spirit Award recognizes employees who are a positive force at work and in their community. The award was inspired by the kindness and generosity of Langdon S. Flowers, past president and chairman of the board of Flowers Foods. Throughout his life, Langdon Flowers encouraged many people within the company and throughout the country and was an active supporter of many charitable and community organizations.

Willie Frederick, a production supervisor for the Thomasville bakery, devotes his time away from work to helping the youth of Thomasville and Thomas County become better students, athletes, and more responsible citizens. He’s become a father figure to some of the kids he mentors, and he has helped many go on to higher education after completing high school. Willie also supports the elderly in his community, and spends his time helping them with cooking, cleaning, and yard work.

“Willie always has a smile and kind word for his co-workers and dedicates his time to helping others,” said Mickey Miller, bakery president. “He is ready to lend a hand to those in need. We’re very fortunate to have Willie on our team.”

Flowers Baking Co. of Thomasville, located at 300 S. Madison St., produces and markets fresh breads, buns, and snack cakes that are sold in markets in Georgia, Alabama and Florida under the Nature’s Own, Cobblestone Mill, Sunbeam, and Blue Bird Brands. The bakery is a subsidiary of Flowers Foods (NYSE: FLO). Headquartered in Thomasville, Flowers Foods is a leading producer and marketer of packaged bakery foods for retail and foodservice customers.
