THOMASVILLE —
The search for Thomasville’s next football coach is under way.
The Thomasville City School Board of Education office made the announcement via a news release Friday after the board accepted the resignation of head coach Richie Marsh at a special called board meeting.
Marsh asked to be released from his contract on Tuesday after accepting an offer to become the defensive coordinator at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla.
The release said, “Superintendent (Sabrina) Everett stated that coach Marsh has been an asset to the Thomasville City School System. He has played an integral part in the lives of numerous students during his tenure here as the head varsity football coach and teacher. Coach Marsh is known for his personal anecdotes on individual players and was very involved in supporting his athletes both on and off the field.
“He will be missed, but the superintendent and board members wish him the best in this new endeavor.”
