Man ingests cocaine, remains hospitalized

THOMASVILLE — A man the narcotics chief said ate cocaine remains hospitalized at Archbold Memorial Hospital.

Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division agents learned Wednesday that Donald Edwin McMillan and Fredrick McBurrow would pick up cocaine in Grady County and bring it to Thomas County.

Agents set up surveillance on U.S. 84 and stopped the older-model Chevrolet pickup truck in which the suspects were traveling.

“It appeared the driver, McMillan, placed crack cocaine in his mouth to eat in an effort to destroy evidence,” said Commander Kevin Lee.

“McMillan had cocaine residence around his mouth and caked on his tongue,” Lee said. “We feared he had ingested a lot of cocaine.”

The Thomas County Emergency Medical Service responded and transported McMillan, 47, to Archbold

Lee said McBurrow handed the cocaine to McMillan, adding that both men have been arrested on drug charges in the past.

McBurrow, 34, 54 Chase Meadows Drive, is charged with cocaine possession with intent to distribute.

The truck and $800 were seized.
