Fleetwood treatments continue

THOMASVILLE — Cancer treatments are ongoing for a teen, and donations continue to be sought to help defray medical costs.

Austin Fleetwood, a former Thomasville resident, underwent his seventh chemo treatment this week in Jacksonville, Fla.

His father, Tony Fleetwood, a Thomasville resident, said a mass in his son’s chest is shrinking, but more cancer has been found in Austin’s upper thigh bones and lower spine.

Funds are needed to help pay for overnight stays and other expenses incurred on trips to receive the treatments.

A fund, The Austin Fleetwood Recovery Trust Fund, has been established at Thomas County Federal Savings & Loan Association, for donations.

Information about another fund can be found on Facebook under “Team Fleetwood.”

Also on Facebook is information about a July 7 fundraiser in Crawfordville, Fla., where the young cancer victim lives with his mother.

Tony Fleetwood said that to date, less than $1,000 has been donated to the Thomasville fund.

“We need help,” he said. “The medical bills are mounting, and all of the funds we have raised are diminishing quickly.”
