Public input sought for school system's strategic plan

THOMASVILLE — During upcoming months, the Thomas County School system will embark on development of a new five-year strategic plan, and community input is being sought in the process.

The Thomas County Board of Education has engaged the Georgia School Boards Associations to facilitate the process, which has a goal of strategic planning to identify where the organization wants to be at some point in the future and how it is going to get there.

“This process includes identifying current strengths and opportunities for improvement, clarifying goals and developing specific plans to meet the goals which are established during the process. This process should be focused and transparent and should involve a broad range of stakeholders,” Dr. Dusty Kornegay, school superintendent, said.

The kickoff for the strategic planning effort, a community engagement session, is from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Thomas County Central High School cafeteria. A light dinner, with a choice of a sub sandwich or salad, chips and drink, will be provided at no charge.
