THOMASVILLE —
The Thomas County Board of Education Thursday night approved a 9.95 percent net increase in school property taxes for 2012.
The vote came after a public hearing, where most citizens spoke out against the tax hike, while a few people told school board members they understood the panel’s financial dilemma.
The vote was 5-1, with Frank Warr making the motion for the hike. The second was provided by Nancy Hiers.
The sole nay vote was cast by Kay Streets.
