THOMASVILLE — A MacIntyre Park Middle School assistant principal temporarily reassigned Tuesday was arrested Wednesday in connection with an incident at the school.
Ishia Dawson, 38, 1307 Bayleaf Drive, Moultrie, surrendered at the Jail-Justice Center about 3 p.m. Wednesday, said Thomasville Police Department Maj. Wade Glover.
Dawson is charged with failure to report, a misdemeanor.
“We had an incident occur at the school last Friday,” Glover explained.
The incident involved a male student touching a female student on outer clothing. The boy, 13, was suspended and charged with sexual battery, indecent exposure and electronically furnishing obscene material.
Glover said police learned Dawson knew about the incident and did not report it. She should have reported the incident immediately to her superior or police, the officer said.
Teachers reported the incident to superiors, Glover said.
“The school officials and the superintendent have cooperated in full,” Glover said. “ … We’re still investigating.”
On Tuesday, Thomasville City School System Superintendent Sabrina Boykins-Everett temporarily reassigned Dawson to the school system Special Education System.
Keith Hose, MPMS principal, was temporarily reassigned to the Facilities & Operations Department.
