THOMASVILLE — More than 200 Alzheimer’s advocates will be donning purple T-shirts and arriving at the capitol Monday to thank Gov. Sonny Perdue and the Georgia Healthcare Facility Regulation Division of the Department of Community Health for rewriting the Personal Care Home Regulations.
The advocates will meet with Perdue and representatives from the Department of Community Health at 11:30 a.m. on the steps of the southwest corridor. The event will be a highlight of the Alzheimer’s Day at the Capitol.
Dan Phillips, regional outreach director for the Southwest Georgia Region of the Alzheimer’s Association Georgia Chapter, said several area residents plan to attend the event.
“Several residents in southwest Georgia, including Albany, Tifton and Douglas, will be headed to the state capitol,” he said in an event news release. “We will be talking to our senators and representatives about Alzheimer’s issues and asking for their support on important issues dealing with Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers.”
