Officers deliver suspect in Papa John's robbery

THOMASVILLE — A suspect has been delivered in a recent assault and robbery connected to a local pizza restaurant.

Jontavious C. Bryant, 19, was arrested at his residence, 1720 S. Pinetree Boulevard Lot 15, on Wednesday, according to Thomasville Police Department officials, for his actions during a Nov. 9 incident.

“We received information about him and he was arrested today,” Lt. Karen Murray, commander of TPD Criminal Investigations Division, said on Thursday. “It was just a matter of tracking him down via the information.”

On Nov. 9, officers were dispatched to Papa John’s, located at 1210 E. Jackson Street, in reference to an assault.

Upon arrival, a white female employee was found at the back of the business “sitting down with blood coming from her nose and mouth,” according to an incident report.

Officials were advised the female was delivering an order to the 900 block of South Street and was assaulted.

She told authorities two black males were outside the residence when she arrived and told her to give them the pizzas but they did not want the money, according to the report.

The suspects attempted to get into the vehicle by opening the back driver’s side door and the employee was struck multiple times in the face by one of the suspects.

She got away without the suspects taking the food or the money and was later taken to Archbold Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The food the suspects were trying to take were large sausage, pepperoni and extra-cheese pizzas, and a two-liter Sprite, according to the report. The food was valued at $29.19.

No information was known about the second suspect at press time Thursday.

Bryant is charged with robbery and aggravated assault.

A representative at Thomas County Jail expected him to be arraigned late Thursday.
