Flowers Foods to throw annual holiday light switch

Flowers Foods has been busy putting the finishing touches on its annual “Christmas In Lights” display, which opens at 6 p.m. on Friday. The display is located on the grounds of the company's corporate office on U. S. 19 South in Thomasville.

The driveway that winds through the grounds is flanked with lighted holiday images, including trumpeting angels, jumping deer, sparkling trees and the Nativity. Additional displays run at the end of the display along Sunset Drive. Visitors are encouraged to roll down their car windows and listen to holiday music piped through the display.

“We been told that driving through ‘Christmas In Lights’ has become a holiday tradition for many families,” noted Marta Jones Turner, executive vice president of corporate relations for Flowers Foods. “We're so pleased it continues to give pleasure to children of all ages.”

Flowers Foods has offered Christmas In Lights as a holiday gift to its hometown since 1995. It was inspired by W. H. Flowers Jr., the company's long-time chairman and chief executive officer, who had a special fondness for Christmas.

“Christmas In Lights” is open to the public free of charge every day from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. from Friday through Dec. 31. The entrance of the display is through the main gates on U.S. South. Visitors are asked to turn off their headlights, observe the 5 mph speed limit when driving through the display and remain in their cars for safety.
