Staff report
It’s not your typical fund-raiser.
More than 600 local residents shared big laughs on Friday as local police officers, sheriff deputies and firefighters dressed up like women in a campaign to raise funds that would be used to bring ‘miracles’ to children.
The third annual Miss Rosethorn Pageant for Children’s Miracle Network was standing-room-only in the new Best Western Conference Center and the show raised nearly $6,000, which will be used for charity medical care, event director Kaye Lamb said.
The unique fund-raiser is held like a regular pageant with a talent show and evening gown presentation, Lamb said. “You won’t believe it until you see it,” she said. “The laughter never stopped.”
With the help of Children’s Miracle Network, children of all ages and backgrounds can receive treatment for every imaginable disease and injury.
You can help make miracles happen by giving a donation to Children’s Miracle Network. Make your check payable to Children’s Miracle Network and mail to Kaye Lamb, PO Box 6171. Thomasville, GA 31756. For more information, e-mail Kaye at mklamb_53@hotmail.com.
