THOMASVILLE — Anyone planning to cast a ballot in November municipal general elections has until the end of the day Monday to register to vote.
Voter registration is at the registrar’s office, 406 Smith Ave. Registration ends at 5 p.m. Monday.
Municipal elections will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 3, in Thomasville and in Thomas County’s six smaller municipalities.
Early voting begins Tuesday, Oct. 13.
“Early voting, with the exception of Thomasville, will be done at the respective city halls,” said Vickie Burnette, Thomas County superintendent of elections and probate judge.
Early voting in the Thomasville election is at the registrar’s office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
Advance voting is Oct. 26-Oct. 30.
Burnette said Georgia law calls for absentee ballots to be issued 21 days before the election, or beginning Oct. 13 for this year’s municipal elections.
Absentee ballots will be available at the registrar’s office for those voting absentee in the Thomasville election.
Absentees ballots will be available at city halls in Boston, Barwick, Coolidge, Meigs, Ochlocknee and Pavo to vote absentee in those towns.
One member of Thomasville City Council has opposition, while a number of city council members and mayors in the smaller municipalities are being opposed.
