Caregiving

Dr. Sandra Haymon is to discuss the baby boomer generation being sandwiched between caregiving and retirement at a seminar at 7 p.m., Thursday at The Clubhouse at Southern Pines Retirement Community. For reservations, call 226-6074.



Y camp

Kids ages 4 – 12 may attend a YMCA spring break camp from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., April 6-10 at the Weston YMCA. Activities include arts and crafts, basketball, board games, bowling, skating, singing and soccer. Two snacks per day will be provided. Registration deadline is April 4. OSHA seminar

The Thomas County Employer Committee and the Thomasville Area SHRM Chapter, Society of Human Resource Managers, are co-sponsoring a seminar entitled: "Are you ready . . . preparing for OSHA". The seminar is from 8:30 a.m. to noon, March 17, at Southwest Georgia Technical College. Seminar topics include calculating the true costs of accidents and managing safety in the workplace. Speaker Phillip Moncrief has more than 18 years experience as a compliance officer with the U.S. Dept. of Labor/OSHA. Cost is $30 per person or five for $125. A continental breakfast will be served. The Boys & Girls Club is holding a free health fair at 6:30 p.m., March 26 for glucose and cholesterol, blood pressure, BMI, eye screenings, mental and family health, fitness and wellness, STD prevention, nutrition and health insurance.



PELHAM

Jamboree

CASA class

Court Appointed Special Advocates is a child advocacy organization that uses trained volunteers to advocate for abused children in Thomas and Brooks counties’ juvenile courts. CASA officials are starting a new volunteer training class next month. For information, call 225-4338.



Show

The seventh annual city of Roses Car and Truck Show is April 25 in downtown Thomasville. Registration is 9 a.m. and the show is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.



Enrollment

Thomasville Christian School, a ministry of Christ Community Presbyterian Church, is holding open enrollment for K5-8th grade. Maximum class size is 18 students per grade. All education takes place within some philosophical framework. An education of academic excellence founded on Biblical principles provides a student with a God-centered view of life and the world.

Spring fling

The 19th annual Boston Spring Fling and Auction is Saturday, April 11, in downtown Boston. Vendors are being sought for the flea market on Main Street. Items are also being solicited for the auction; in the past, the auction has included used farm equipment, vehicles, antiques, services, vacations, lawn and garden equipment, etc. contact Richard Hutchison at 225-6294 if you have items to donate. The Boston Community Club sponsors this event and it is a 501(3)C organization.

Hours change

The Georgia Department of Veterans Service office is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 1 to 4:30 p.m., Wednesdays. Office hours for itinerant service changes to 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., every third Wednesdays.

Group meeting

Hope — a traumatic brain injury support group — meets the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Northwoods Church of God social hall. For information, call 224-1680.
