Jamboree

Pelham’s very own Cotton Boll Express opens the Pelham Country Jamboree at 5 p.m., Saturday, followed by Chrystal Thomas, Lala Lehmann, John Rich, Betty Stroud and the Cotton Boll Express closes the show at 9. Thanksgiving meal

Word-Doers of Thomasville is holding its annual free Thanksgiving lunch from noon to 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 27 at Thomasville High School cafeteria.

Trains exhibit

Continuing through Jan. 10 at the Museum of History, Trains! Trains! Trains! celebrates railroads with artwork, exhibits and a detailed working model train installed by the Central Georgia Model Railroad Club. Additional exhibits include a how to do it module for those who wish to learn more about the hobby and a special holiday exhibit with a train circling a Christmas tree. Bring the children. BOSTON

Competition

Choirs may participate in a competition with other area choirs at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 6 in Boston in Watt Park. The overall winner will receive $250 plus a trophy. Each choir will chose from three categories children; youth; adult or they can compete in all categories. Each choir will be given 15 minutes for each category they chose. A sound system will be provided. Registration is required and the entry fee consists of one non-perishable food item per choir member. The food will be distributed to the needy during Christmas. This event is sponsored by the Boston Business Association; for more information, call 498-1146 or 498-5415.



Parade

Entries are being accepted for Boston’s Christmas parade at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 5. To register, call Danny Groover at 498-4065.



Competition

As a part of the Christmas in Boston weekend, Boston residents and businesses may participate in a decorating competition. Winners are selected by a committee of outside judges in three categories of residence, business, and churches. You must pre-register no later than noon, Thursday Dec. 4 to be considered in the judging which will take place Friday afternoon, Dec. 5; pre-register by calling city hall at 498-6743. Winners will be announced during the tree lighting in Watt Park.



CAIRO

Spanish class

Southwest Georgia Technical College is offering workplace Spanish beginning in January.

The course will be instructed by David Reckford and will cover basic terms and phrases which allow for easier communications between employees, colleagues, and customers.

Aviation museum

The Thomasville Aviation Museum, featuring an assortment of engines called Power of the Past, is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturdays and 2 p.m.-6 p.m. on Sundays.

The facility, located at Thomasville Regional Airport, is also available by appointment.

There is no admission fee.

Bingo in Boston

Sponsored by the Boston Business Association and Boston Community Club, Bingo in Boston is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday in the Boston Community Center on Main Street. There is no charge to play. Prizes include homemade baked goods. Popcorn is at no charge and drinks and other refreshments are available. This event is held the third Thursday of each month.
