THOMASVILLE — Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division agents collected a different kind of litter from alongside a Thomas County highway.
Agents learned a 1980 Chevrolet pickup truck would be delivering crack cocaine Wednesday night.
“They would be in the (U.S.) 319/Sanford Road area,” said Kevin Lee, division commander.
Officers saw the truck headed north on 319. They attempted to stop the pickup, which fled.
“Agents saw them tossing drugs out the window,” Lee explained.
The truck pulled up to a residence on Sanford. The occupants, Jeffrey Bernard Ross, 21, 2136 Sanford Road, and Marquis Martiel Wilkins, 20, 1982 Sanford Road, were detained.
Agents returned to where they saw items being tossed from the truck and found cocaine and marijuana on the ground. The contraband, crack cocaine, was individually wrapped.
Officers returned to the residence and charged Wilkins and Ross with cocaine possession with intent to distribute and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
“They’re street dealers,” Lee said.
The suspects remained in the Thomas County Jail Thursday night. They are awaiting arraignment.
