THOMASVILLE — Bond was denied Monday for a Boston man charged with child molestation.
The suspect, Stanley Maurice Wright, 32, 537 Rountree St., Boston, admitted to the charge during an interview Monday morning, said Jason Carroll, a Thomas County Sheriff’s Office investigator.
On Sunday, Wright touched a 15-year-old girl inappropriately, Carroll said, adding that the alleged incident occurred about 1 a.m.
“The child confided to a family member,” Carroll said. The family member contacted the sheriff’s office.
The suspect, who is employed by a Thomasville industry, remains in the Thomas County Jail.
Carroll encouraged youngsters who are touched inappropriately to tell a trusted adult what happened.
Younger children are easily intimidated by molesters, the investigator said. “They don’t like to tell,” Carroll said.
He said a trusted family member should be told about inappropriate touching. Others a child might be comfortable confiding in include school counselors, teachers, physicians or law enforcement officers.
“We can’t find out unless they tell,” Carroll explained.
