Indictment returned in fatal wreck

THOMASVILLE — The driver in a fatal wreck near Meigs has been indicted on a vehicular-homicide charge.

Wendell Edwards also was indicted on charges of driving under the influence, speeding, too fast for conditions, failure to maintain lane and seat-belt and open-container violations.

Edwards, a Meigs resident, was injured, and a passenger, Travis Bernard Flemming, 24, of Meigs, died in the April 9 wreck on Ga. 3 north of Meigs.

Edwards and Flemming were thrown from the 1999 Ford Crown Victoria Edwards was driving.

A Georgia State Patrol spokesman said in April a number of containers of alcohol were found at the scene of the accident.

The involvement of alcohol in a wreck constitutes a charge of first-degree homicide.

Other indictments include:

• Willie Gibbs Jr. — Escape.

• Sherman Richardson — Two counts sexual battery.

• Rochell Lovett — Aggravated stalking (family violence).

• Benjamin Turner Cook III — Two counts child molestation, enticing a child for indecent purposes, sexual battery.

• Fenley Gibson — Aggravated assault.

• Wayne Jerome Wright — Three counts theft by taking.

• Felicia Anne Bass — Kidnapping, robbery.

• Emmitt Dennis — Kidnapping, robbery.

• Lonzell Thigpen — Battery.

• Michael J. Bevard — Two counts aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

• Travis Clark, Aaron Slydell — Two counts aggravated assault.

• Jimmy Lee Clark — Aggravated assault, robbery.

• Sedrick L. Booker — Robbery, battery.

• Charles Henry Bryant Jr. — Kidnapping with bodily injury, burglary, two counts aggravated assault, theft by taking motor vehicle, two counts obstruction of officer, criminal interference with government property.

• Travis L. Larry — First-degree forgery.

• Joel Deon Green — Four counts aggravated assault, theft by receiving stolen property, cruelty to children, battery, obstruction of officer, possession of firearm by convicted felon.

• Francesca D. Hadley — Aggravated assault, theft of services.

• Hazel Robinson — Aggravated battery.

• Topreka Davis — Aggravated assault (family violence).

• Derrick McMillian — Rape, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment.

• Robert Young — Robbery.

• Rodney A. Parker — Theft by taking.

• Christopher Y. Brannon — Entering auto, two counts obstruction of officer, simple battery, misdemeanor marijuana possession.

• Stanley Edenfield — Burglary, arson.

• David Allen Peppers Jr. — Two counts burglary, criminal trespass with damage.

• Russell Tyler Weldon — Statutory rape, interference with custody.

• Robert Eddie Coleman — Aggravated assault.

• Roderick Leon Wilkins — Burglary, theft by deception.

• Richard W. Santos — Aggravated assault, criminal attempt to commit armed robbery.

• Timothy Bernard Reese — Aggravated assault.

• Sherry Lee Strickland — Burglary.

• Steve Randall Herbert — Burglary, false statements and writings.

• James E. Singingale — Theft by taking.

• David Allen Baker — Theft by taking.

• David Dewayne Young — Burglary, three counts theft by receiving stolen property, theft by taking motor vehicle, entering auto, possession of tools for commission of crime, escape.

No-bills were returned on:

• Sherman B. Richardson — Rape.

• Angel Michelle Cason — Cruelty to children in the first degree.

• Peggy Jean Bryant — Arson in the first degree, criminal damage to property in the second degree.

• Jeff Frank Hendricks — Theft by receiving stolen property.

• Tamorris Williams — Statutory rape.

• Lonzell Thigpen — Robbery.

Accusations were returned on:

• Jerry Bernard Moore — Theft by taking motor vehicle.

• Teniah Monique Lurry — Financial transaction card fraud.

• Cordell Ferrell — Habitual violator, driving under the influence, driving while license suspended, failure to maintain lane.

• Roger Clinton Kiser — Theft by receiving property stolen in another state.

• Toya Felita Thomas — Six counts financial transaction card fraud, theft by taking.

• Scott Theron George — Theft by taking, criminal trespass.

• Sharon L. Armstrong — Forgery in the first degree.

• Robert C. Wimberly — Entering auto, financial transaction card fraud, theft by taking.

• Robert Raymond Johnson — Unlawful possession of ephedrine.

• Greg Robert Hayes — First-degree forgery.
