THOMASVILLE — While a Thomasville man and woman were at the Archbold Memorial Hospital emergency room, Thomasville police found cocaine under a bed at their Covington Avenue apartment.

Thomasville police responded Wednesday when emergency room personnel reported a stabbing. Fellow officers searched the 200 Covington apartment where the dispute had occurred.

“They were looking for the weapon used in the altercation,” said Kevin Lee, commander of the Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division.

Instead, police found five plastic bags of powder cocaine under a bed and called narcotics agents.

Shannon Carter, 21, is charged with false imprisonment and cocaine possession. Autumn Coats, 20, is charged with aggravated assault (family violence) and cocaine possession. Both suspects listed the 220 Covington Ave. apartment as their residence.

Carter was released from the Thomas County Jail on an $11,000 bond. Coats was being held Friday afternoon in lieu of a bond of the same amount.

In other drug activity, Nicholas Graham, 26, 200 Jones St., was released from jail on an $11,000 bond after being charged with cocaine possession with intent to distribute and misdemeanor marijuana possession.

Narcotics agents were waiting when Graham arrived at an East Pine Tree Boulevard apartment to deliver crack cocaine, Lee said.

Agents think the suspect spit out the crack coke they found on the floor of the Saturn station wagon he was driving. Lee said cocaine suppliers now transport the contraband in their mouths so they can swallow it if lawmen approach.

“We also found a sandwich bag containing marijuana under the seat,” the commander added.

Lawmen were watching when Edgar Jerome Johnson Jr. placed an object in a trash receptacle during a detail involving Thomas County and Thomasville law enforcement agencies.

In another case, officers were looking for a suspect in the 300 block of Jones Street, when Johnson walked away quickly and put something in a garbage can.

Agents found a number of bags of powder cocaine in the trash can and charged Johnson, 27, 316 Jones, with cocaine possession with intent to distribute.

The suspect was released from jail on a $15,100 bond.
