Inside Out 2010 is here

Staff report

THOMASVILLE — Area residents have an opportunity to connect with God through music and fellowship at Saturday’s “Inside Out 2010,” a Christian concert at Remington Park put on by local agency One Heartbeat Inc. and more than 100 volunteers.

“It is about bringing people together in unity through music,” Leslie Bennett, One Heartbeat board member, said. “God is the focus. Our mission is to unite believers and transform lives through music, worship and teaching.”

Artists performing include Shane and Shane, Bebo Norman, Meredith Andrews, Curvine and The Key.

This is the third year “Inside Out” has been presented, Bennett said. It was started by the late Tommy Williams, who died of cancer in October 2009.

“Young people in Thomasville was a big focus of his and he really believed the next generation is going to be the movers and shakers, the ones that really change our city, state and world,” she said.

“He saw this event as an opportunity for people to hear Christian music and experience God. He wanted to see walls broken down and lives transformed.”

This is the first year there has been a charge for admittance to the event.

“Number one, ticket sales will help offset the costs of the concert,” Bennett said. “We also believe when someone pays for something, it places value on that item and gives the opportunity for them to be able to sew into the kingdom. Inside Out does not belong to us, but to God and is for our community.

“We believe it is important for residents to invest in their community. But, no one will be refused entrance if they cannot pay.”

One Heartbeat is currently working to obtain its non-profit status and funds raised from the event will go back to its operations and for future community events, she said.

Tickets are on sale now at area Christian bookstores, including Rayann’s in Thomasville and Tallahassee, Lifeway of Tallahassee, Potter’s House Christian Store of Valdosta, and Christian Books, Etc. of Valdosta.

They may also be purchased at www.itickets.com.

Participants may bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on at the event.

There will also be a “reach section” at the site where several local non-profits will have booths set up with information about their services. Also, local organizations will operate food booths at the park.
