THOMASVILLE — Criminals look for opportunities to commit crimes, and unlocked vehicles in the Archbold Memorial Hospital parking lot presented an open invitation.
Three vehicles were entered Tuesday night at the 915 Gordon Ave. facility.
“Trunks, hoods and doors were found open or partially open,” said Lt. Eric Hampton, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.
Owners of the vehicles told police their vehicles were not locked, or they were not sure whether they were locked.
Change and a flashlight were taken from two vehicles. Nothing was taken from the third.
“They also attempted to take the battery from one vehicle and burst the battery,” Hampton said.
Lock vehicles, and do no leave valuables in plain view, Hampton advised.
“We recommend citizens contact police when they observe suspicious people in parking lots or in their neighborhoods,” the officer said.
Suspicious persons or activity may be reported by calling 911.
