Jewelry Sale This Week at Grady General

The Ladies Auxiliary of Grady General Hospital will be sponsoring a Jewelry Sales featuring the products of Jewelry for Fun, former Phantasia. The sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday in the hospital's conference room.  Rings, necklaces, bracelets, sunglasses and handbags will among the items for sale.

 

Missionettes to Hold Walk to Benefit Cancer Society

Family Worship Center's Missionettes will be sponsoring a 5K and 10K Run on May 12 with proceed to benefit the American Cancer Society.  Registration is $15 if done by May 2 and $18 after May 2. Contact Family Worship Center for more information.

 

Kiwanis to Hold Pancake Breakfast this Thursday Morning

The Cairo Kiwanis Club will be having a Pancake Breakfast from 6 to 8 a.m., Thursday at Mr. Chick of Cairo.  Plates are $4 and will be available for eat-in or take out.

 

National Day of Prayer to Be Observed on Thursday Evening

Everyone is invited to attend the National Day of Prayer celebration at the First United Methodist Church of Cairo this Thursday beginning at 5:59p.m. In addition to prayer for our community and nation, local community service employees and military personnel will be honored.  The event is open to everyone.

 

Wild Adventures Passes to Be Raffled

The Grady County Council on Child Abuse will be raffling off four Gold Season Passes to Wild Adventures as a fundraiser for the organization on May 9th.  The Gold Passes will include unlimited admissions for four to Wild Adventures for the 2012 season plus free parking, free go-karts, free miniature golf and other discounts throughout the park.  Only 1,000 raffle tickets will be sold and proceeds from the raffle will go directly to the community through the First Steps program for mothers and newborn babies.  Tickets can be purchased from any member of the -Council on Child Abuse or by calling 872-3260 or 221-1300.

 

Local Church to Offer a Parent's Night Out

Gordon Heights Baptist Church will be hosting a Parent's Night Out from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., on Saturday. The event is free to the public for the first 25 children and will be held in the church Fellowship Hall.  For more information, call Al Sessions at 416-9161 or Gwen Lee at 224-5321.

 

Young Life to Hold Fundraiser for Camp

Young Life Grady County is planning a car wash and yard sale on May 5 to help raise money for Young Life camp at Crooked Creed Ranch in Fraser, Colo., this summer. It is in the Eastern parking lot at the Cairo Messenger from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 5.

 

Golf Tourney to Benefit Veterans Express Bus

The 14th Annual Veterans Express Bus Golf Tournament will be held at the Cairo Country Club on Saturday, May 5, sponsored by the Cairo-Grady County Employer Committee and Thomas Chevrolet. The tournament is open to all male and female amateurs with individual and team entries encouraged.  Entry fee is $60 per team member due at registration with handicaps.  For more information, call the Cairo Country Club at 377-4506 or Fred McCallum at 850-544-9934.

 

Sheriff's Department Holding Raffle for Relay

The Grady County Sheriff's Department is selling tickets for a Raffle to benefit the American Cancer Society. Tickets are $5 each or three for $10 with the winner having their choice of either $500 in gasoline or a Stoeger 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun.  The drawing will be held on May 4 a part of the Grady County Relay for Life. Tickets are currently on sale at the Sheriff's Department and by the Sheriff's Department employees.
