Barwick recall effort begins

THOMASVILLE — A Barwick woman has filed a petition to recall the Barwick mayor and a member of the Barwick City Council.

Fran Beck, who is heading the recall effort, delivered petition paperwork to Kellie Overmire, Barwick superintendent of elections and city clerk.

The recall is on Mayor Ned Simmons and I.J. McCann, a council member.

Beck and other recall backers are unhappy about a 2011 land swap between the city council and the Barwick Chamber of Commerce.
