Dorothy Lee Ezell Smith

Funeral Services for Mrs. Dorothy Lee Ezell Smith, 90, of Thomasville and formerly of Bainbridge, are 3 p.m. today, March 14, 2010, at Cox-Ware Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Gerald Horne will officiate and interment will follow in Oak City Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Terry Smith, Dale Smith, Craig Carr, Mitch Hiers, Don Moody and Kenneth Sheffield. Mrs. Smith was born Aug. 30, 1919, in Grady County, to the now late Will and Irene Wilson Ezell. She was raised in Grady County, lived most of her life in Bainbridge, and moved to Thomasville two years ago. She married the now late Elic Smith in 1936. She was a homemaker and a member of Bainbridge Church of God. Mrs. Smith dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She died Friday, March 12, 2010, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. She is survived by two daughters, Merle (husband Douglas) Carr of Bainbridge and Wanda Slaughter of Thomasville; two sons, Terry Smith of Thomasville and Alex Smith of Bainbridge; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and, one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons, Johnny Mack Smith, Lavon Smith and Jimmy Smith; daughter, Linda Sheffield; brothers, H.L. Ezell, Clyde Ezell and Otis Ezell; and, a sister, Cathylyn Ritter. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1925 Century Blvd. Suite 10 Atlanta, Ga. 30345.
