Mamie Jerome Powell Lightfoot
Services for Mamie Jerome Powell Lightfoot, 65, formerly of Miami, Fla., are 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Hatcher-Peoples Funeral Home Chapel in Thomasville and 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at New Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Miami. Rev. Charlie Ross will officiate in Thomasville and Rev. Richard P. Dunn will officiate in Miami. Interment will be in Dade Memorial Park in Miami. Mrs. Lightfoot was born Oct. 1, 1944, in Miami, to parents Charlie and Mamie Powell. She was a resident of Thomasville for 22 years. She was a graduate of Magnolia High School Class of 1962 and attended Miami/Dade Community College, where she received an associate degree in 1980. She was a member of her church usher board. She died Dec. 22, 2009, at her residence. Survivors include brothers, Charlie Powell and Johnny Payne, both of Miami, and Ross Payne, Albert Payne and Kenneth Payne, all of Thomasville; sisters, Barbara Payne, Berlinda Frazier (Terry) and Gladys Shotwell, all of Thomasville; sisters-in-law, Lillian Powell of Thomasville and Lillie Lightfoot of Miami; granddaughters, Laquita Powell and Sherquita Jackson, both of Miami; aunts, Irene Thomas of Thomasville and Dorothy Ross of Miami; uncle, L. C. Ross of Miami; and, a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by son, Reginald Jerome Powell, and her husband, Matthew Lightfoot. — Hatcher-Peoples Funeral Home
