John L. Coston

Services for Brother John L. Coston are 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul M.B. Church. Rev. Andrew Anderson is pastor and Rev. Leonard Spears will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Coston, affectionately known by some as “Johnny Boy,” the son of the late Abe Coston and Mamie Sadler Coston, was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Thomas County. He was retired as a farmer and his love was mechanic work on cars. He died Dec. 17, 2009. Survivors include his wife, Delma Coston; daughters, Johnnie Mae Esther, Debbie Sneed and Phyllis Blount (Oliver); sons, Johnnie Coston, Willie Coston, Frank Coston, Kenneth Coston, Anthony Coston (Saporia) and Cecil Coston (Catrina); brother, Hosea Coston of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sisters, Glovanah Coston of St. Petersburg, Francis Mitchell Lewis of Thomasville and Daisy Tucker (the late Charlie) of Thomasville; 31 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Jake Coston, David Coston (the late Annie Louise) and Tom Coston (the late Beaulah); sisters, Effie Jean Perkins (L.C.) and Louisa Conage (the late Sylvester). Family and friends are asked to assemble 2 p.m. Saturday at 99 Stephens Road for the procession. — Hadley’s Funeral Home
