William Cecil Thornton

Services for William Cecil Thornton, 61, of Delwood Community, are 11 a.m. today at Delwood Baptist Church. Interment is in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers are Steve Brock, Sammy Smith, Darin Singleton, Chris Caraway, Will Caraway, Joey Griffin, Lanair Worsham Jr. and Harry Sullivan. Honorary pallbearers are Donald Brock, Jim Cooper, D. W. Williams, Earl West, Robert Singleton, Lanair Worsham, James Sullivan, Gene Taylor, Treavor Pollock and Jimmy Pollock. Mr. Thornton died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, at his residence. Born Nov. 14, 1948, in Decatur County, he was the son of the late William C. Thornton. Mr. Thornton was a farmer and a lifetime member of Delwood Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Glenna G. Thornton of Delwood Community; daughters, Cile Thornton of Bainbridge, Cindy Thornton of Whigham and Charla West and husband Jeffrey “Tater” of Meigs; grandchildren, Drew Bailey, Josh West and Karsyn West; mother, Irene P. Thornton Lewis of Delwood Community; sisters, Dianne Singleton of Delwood Community and Joy Caraway and husband Terry of Camilla; two nieces; and, three nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Thornton. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1512 Gillionville Road, Albany, Ga., 31707 or Delwood Baptist Church, 480 Delwood Church Road, Camilla, Ga. 31730. — Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home
