Thelma Ruth Smith

Services for Thelma Ruth Smith of Albany are at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home in Thomasville. Pastors Mike Adams and Charles Moore will officiate and interment is in Barwick Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mrs. Smith died Nov. 19 at Bainbridge Memorial Manor in Bainbridge. She was born in 1912 to James Claude and Navie Sherman. Mrs. Smith was retired from Harris Pine Mill Furniture Factory in Valdosta. She was a former member of Barwick Seventh-day Adventist Church from 1953 until she moved to Albany and became a member of the Albany Community Seventh-day Adventist Church. She served her Lord and church in various capacities in the Barwick church as Sabbath school superintendent, investment leader, head deaconness and Sabbath school teacher in the children’s division. Survivors include her five children, John Alex Smith of Boston, Betty Ramsey (James) of Albany, Sara Quick of Fletcher, N.C., Harold Lee Smith of Fletcher, N.C., Sharon Willis (W.L.) of Bainbridge; five grandchildren, Ronda Foster (Jimmy) of Ooltewah, Tenn., Debbie Pendleton (Brian) of Fletcher, N.C., Shawn Steadham of Tallahassee, Fla., Jack Quick (Teresa) of Hendersonville, N.C., Todd Smith (Elizabeth) of Lake Park; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Fuller (Jack) of Albany, Grace Moore of Galiax, Va.; and a brother, Lloyd Sherman (Delores) of Bolivia, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Joseph Smith. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so, may make a contribution to the Albany Seventh-day Adventist Church Community Services Program, P.O.
